Universal broadband connectivity has been a problem across the country for some time. Many refer to
this as a “rural” problem. This is a misnomer to a certain extent. While rural broadband, or lack thereof,
is a real problem, there are many communities on the fringes of developed areas that do not have the
benefit of high-speed internet service. The spotlight on this problem has become even brighter since the
COVID-19/Coronavirus crisis came into existence.
